As we put together our 5 goals for the Tourism Committee, even though it may be understood, I think we'd be remiss if we didn't include a statement of our support of the city-wide festival scene and all the events like Come-See-Me, ChristmasVille, Food Truck Fridays, Blues and Jazz Festival, Juneteenth RH, Old Town Summer Concerts , etc. are value added when attracting tourism to Rock Hill. Note: The Catawba Cultural Preservation Project is bringing back their Yap Ye Iswa Festival in 2019.
I would also like to clarify that when we speak of "the Arts", we mean all of the visual and performing arts. This includes not only art exhibitions, artists, various art workshops, artists studios, photography, the Pottery Center/retail, and all of the programs and services of the Arts Council of York County, but musical concerts of all types, theatre of all kinds, the literary arts (poetry, fiction competition), the film industry (UnderExposed Film Festival YC), and more.
Culture and Historic organizations include but are not limited to Historic Rock Hill and the White Home, the Culture and Heritage Museums, the African American History initiatives and the Catawba Indian Nation's Cultural Center.
Great points, Betty! And I like your explanation of the terminology to help us all out! Thanks for sharing!
